This course is open to all trans people in Scotland (at Scottish Trans Alliance we use trans as an inclusive umbrella term for all people whose gender identity or gender expression does not fuly correspond with their sex assigned at birth, including trans men, trans women, non-binary people and cross-dressing people).
The course will be run by trainers from the Scottish Centre for Personal Safety, who have all received trans awareness training from Scottish Trans Alliance.
About the course:
Our full day Personal Safety course includes tips and advice on how to stay safe when out and about, when socialising and when using public transport.
We also discuss the Warning signs and Danger signs displayed by an attacker prior to an attack; de-esculating techniques; the Law regarding self defence; Reasonable Use of Force; and Improvised Weapons.
During the practical self defence session, we will show you how to escape from a basic wrist or clothing grab; strangle holds; a full frontal attack; a back attack; and even ground attacks.
